As long as I'm gaining fame does it really matter? Is it possible to win as a vassal? Should I just ride it out? Has anyone played this way successfully? I'm thinking maybe switch to a military culture at some point and build up to rebel. So, they get a little of my gold and pick a few things for me. I'm starting to wonder if being a vassal is that bad. I've been able to expand into a lot of the available territory. First place is only 4400 and I'm catching up. And my religion is trash so I skipped the Aksumites as well. I only have a few coastal territories so the Carthage seemed a waste. Need to build up industry before taking on the Mycenaeans who are now the Huns. Once you’re near a resource or city you want to ransack, click this. The first one is for creating an outpost and the second is for ransacking. The window on the right side has a few buttons above your unit composition. Romans wouldn't be much help at this stage. For those of you that haven’t used the ransack mechanic yet, this is how it works. It was just Aksumites, Romans, and Carthaginians. When I finally went classical there was nothing appropriate for my situation so I just transcended. By the time I got 7 most of the good ones were taken anyway.
I hung around in ancient for a while to complete some more stars. The cultural effect has allowed me to gain a few techs from them and even swap civics to useful ones for free. They've made a few choices for me, but nothing major. So, I kept all my territory and now have access to all of their resources. They declare on me and I know will completely destroy me so I immediately surrender and become a vassal. Turns out I'm alone on a continent with the Mycenaeans controlled by a very, very aggressive avatar. This is all we have got in our Humankind Console Commands guide. Some of them that have been confirmed to work include the following: Block Mute a player. Game progressed and I ended up getting all three stars and Egyptians. The Egyptians and Zhou were both still available so I figured I'd go for a second star.
Three civs beat me to Ancient by one turn and took the Harappans and two others. So, I started my first game at Humankind level.
